I Used a CurrentBody LED Mask Every Day for 8 Weeks — Here's What My Skin Looked Like

Why I finally committed

I'd been curious about LED therapy for years. Seen it everywhere on social media. Read about the clinical studies. But $380 is a serious amount of money for a skincare device, and I wanted to know: does it actually work, or is this a very expensive way to glow in the dark?

So I committed to a proper test. Daily use for 8 weeks — no skipping sessions, same skincare routine, weekly photos in the same lighting. Here's exactly what happened.

Before I started

My main concerns going in: fine lines across the forehead, dull and uneven skin tone, and some redness around the nose and cheeks that never fully settled. I'm in my early 40s and my skin had been looking "tired" more often than I'd like.

I used the mask on completely clean, dry skin before applying any products — exactly as recommended. Sessions auto-stop at 10 minutes. The flexible silicone sits comfortably against the face.

Week 1–2: Nothing to report (and that's normal)

Honestly? Nothing visible happened in the first two weeks. My skin didn't look different. The sessions themselves felt pleasant — warm, relaxing — but I wasn't seeing anything dramatic.

This is expected. Red light therapy works at the cellular level. You're rebuilding collagen structure, not applying a temporary filler. The clinical studies show most people notice a difference at week 3–4. Week 1–2 is just laying the foundation.

One thing I did notice immediately: my skin felt smoother to the touch after each session, and my moisturizer seemed to absorb better. I later learned this is because the warmth and light slightly increase circulation and improve skin permeability.

Week 3–4: The first real shift

This is when it got interesting. Around day 19, I noticed my skin looked brighter in the morning — like it had more "glow" without me doing anything different. By week 4, the texture improvement was undeniable. The rough patches around my nose were smoother. My forehead looked softer.

My partner noticed without me prompting. That's always the real test.

The redness around my nose had also calmed noticeably. I later found out this is documented in CurrentBody's clinical data — a 19% reduction in redness is one of the measured outcomes. Red light at 633nm has an anti-inflammatory effect that shows up consistently in clinical studies.

Week 5–6: Visible wrinkle improvement

By week 6, I was genuinely impressed. The forehead lines that had been bothering me looked softer — not gone, but clearly less deep. When I compared my weekly photos side by side, the difference was obvious.

Skin plumpness was also noticeably different. My face looked more hydrated and fuller, even on days when I hadn't slept well. This matched the 57% improvement in skin plumpness documented in CurrentBody's 2024 clinical trial.

Week 7–8: The complete picture

By the end of week 8, my skin looked meaningfully better than it did when I started. Here's the honest breakdown:

- Forehead lines: Softer, less deep. Not gone, but noticeably improved.

- Skin texture: Dramatically smoother. The rough patches are gone.

- Redness: Much calmer. I'm wearing less makeup to cover it.

- Brightness: This was the most consistent feedback from people who saw me during this period.

- Overall firmness: The skin feels more resilient. Less of that "tired" quality.

Was it worth $380?

That depends on what you'd otherwise be spending. If you're getting regular professional LED facials ($100–150 each), this pays for itself in 3 sessions. If you're buying premium serums every month and not seeing results, the math might also work out.

For me personally: yes. The results are real, the science is solid, and 10 minutes a day is genuinely easy to stick to. I'm continuing past the 8-week mark.

The one caveat: you have to commit. Two sessions a week won't give you these results. The clinical data is based on daily use for the first month, then 5x per week. If you're not going to use it consistently, save your money.
